I know it is possible to make lasagna a day or so ahead of time but I would like to make only the sauce ahead of time, let it cool and then refrigerate. Then bake the lasagna the next day. Any thought on this?

Best Answer

Yes, you can make the tomato (or meat) sauce in advance and keep it a few days in the fridge.

You can also make the bechamel in advance and keep it in the fridge.

Can you make lasagna sauce in advance?

You can make it ahead. The lasagna needs at least 5 hours to chill and let the sauce soften the noodles, but you can definitely make it the night before (even 3 days before) and bake it when you need it.

How far in advance can you make meat sauce for lasagna?

You can prepare lasagna up to 24 hours before baking it.

Can I leave uncooked lasagna in the fridge overnight?

"Uncooked lasagna can last 36 hours in the refrigerator, but if you don't plan to cook it within 12 hours, shorten the boiling time a bit when cooking the noodles. Take the lasagna out of the refrigerator an hour before baking to ensure it cooks evenly."
