What can I do with soft biscuits due to air exposure

What can I do with soft biscuits due to air exposure - Books On The Table

I had bought a biscuit packet and after eating some I left the packet in a poly bag with a knot. However may be due to loosening of the knot, and hence, the air exposure, the biscuits have lost their crunchiness and have become soft. It's now difficult to eat them! If anyone can suggest any recipe so that they don't get wasted or if I can make them hard again!

My biscuits are normal sweet cookies with sugar crystals on their surface. I have around 10-12 pieces left.

You can normally refresh them in the oven. anywhere between about 150°C (for 6-8 minutes) and 190°C (3-4 minutes) should work, ideally taking them out just before they start to brown any more though of course that's a matter of guesswork

Leave to cool on a wire rack, and put in an airtight container as soon as they're cool.

In future, either put the twisted packet in a closed container, or clip it closed, though it may just be that you tried to store them for too long in high humidity.

Can I eat biscuits that have gone soft?

Biscuits: Like crisps, biscuits are also highly processed and thus can be consumed long after their sell-by date. If they taste soft or soggy simply pop them in the oven to get them crunchy again. These can be eaten two months after the best by date.

How do you crisp soggy biscuits?

The best way to make biscuits and cookies crispy again is to reheat them in a microwave for at least four minutes. Don't take them out immediately, keep them in the oven for another 2-3 minutes and then take them out. Let it cool at room temperature and then store them in an airtight container.

Why did my biscuits go soft?

If your freshly baked biscuits seem too soft after they're cooled, then they're either under baked, or there is too much liquid in the recipe. When stamping out biscuits with a cutter, you might find that they stretch as you transfer them to the tray with your hands, and become misshapen.

What does exposure to air do to cookies?

While air helps cakes, making them less dense and more fluffy, too much air in a cookie can be problematic: the air bubbles will expand in the oven and will cause your cookies to spread and lose their shape.
