Store homemade kefir with paper towel on top or close the lid normally?

I made my first batch of kefir with a paper "breathable" towel over the top of a glass container. If I want to store the output in refrigerator, do I have to make it "breathable", or normally close it with solid lid?
Thanks

If you'll drink it quickly, you can store it with an airtight lid, but this will make it "fizzy". Personally, I'd store it with a breathable lid to avoid carbonating it, and possibly causing it to explode. There's still live/active cultures, even when you remove the kefir grains.
Edit: quickly, as in a day or so

Do you need to cover kefir?
Homemade milk kefir can be fermented with either an open lid or a closed lid, or in other words, aerobically or anaerobically. Aerobic basically means a ferment with oxygen, which is usually done with a cloth lid. Anaerobic means without oxygen which is done with a closed lid or airlock. What do you cover kefir with?
COVERING MILK KEFIR DURING FERMENTATION The cover should allow the culture to breathe. Effective coverings include tight-weave dish towels or fabric, a paper towel, a paper coffee filter, etc. Avoid loose-weave fabric and screens. You'll also want to secure the cover to keep out pests such as ants or fruit flies. Can you store kefir with a metal lid?
DO NOT use the metal lids that come with the jars. Metal should not be used as a culturing vessel or for any item that will have contact with the kefir grains.
