If mashed bananas are accidentally left on the counter overnight can they still be used for baking?

I hate wasting, so I get why you are asking this, lol!

I agree with "osp"... SMELL it. Sour or fishy or not like banana, well, then your banana bread might taste like something sour or fishy or not like banana.

Easiest solution is to just scoop off the top layer of the mashed banana that was exposed to the air!

Do mashed bananas need to be refrigerated?

Mashed bananas can be stored in a fridge for up to three days before going bad. Mashed banana will likely become brown and discolored very quickly, but this will not mean that it is not edible. However, if your mashed banana smells bad, throw it out and do not consume it.

Can I mash bananas ahead of time?

Mashing bananas before you freeze them is a quick and easy way to prep overripe bananas, especially if you're going to use them in recipes that call for mashed bananas, such as banana bread or muffins. Simply peel and mash the bananas, then scoop the mash into resealable plastic freezer-safe bags.

Can mashed bananas spoil?

Mashed bananas will generally last for up to 3 days in the fridge, 4 if you like living dangerously. Always test the bananas through sight and smell. If you notice a great deal of liquid (leakage), oozing, mold or rot, do not use them. The bananas will typically turn brown very quickly, but are safe to eat.

How long can bananas sit out?

Unripe bananas last about 2 to 7 days on the counter until they ripen. Once ripe, bananas keep for 2 to 3 days at room temperature or 7 to 10 days in the fridge. That's the gist of it, but there's obviously much more to the shelf life and spoilage of bananas than that.
