Help with ice cream cake

Help with ice cream cake - Four Cupcakes Photography

I'm making an ice cream cake for my brothers birthday. I was putting the ice cream on the first layer of cake and put it in the freezer. I couldn't finish putting the icecream on because it was melting, I tried putting more ice cream on it 15 minutes later but it was melting all over the place. I put it in the freezer again. I think at the beginning my ice cream was way too soft. How do I fix this?? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks.

Best Answer

The problem was a malfunctioning freezer; this is why ice cream melted overnight in it.

When should I take my ice cream cake out of the freezer?

You should remove your ice cream cake from the freezer about half an hour before it is time to serve. This time will allow the dessert to soften before cutting. Homemade versions of this dessert often thaw quickly, but commercial made products are frozen at a lower temperature, requiring more time to soften.

How long does ice cream cake need to sit out before cutting?

How do you defrost ice cream cake quickly?

The best way to thaw an ice cream cake is to place it in the refrigerator for about 40 minutes. If in a hurry, you can put it on the counter for 15 to 20 minutes. However, if the area is too warm you can end up with a gooey mess.

How do you keep ice cream cake soft?

How do ice cream makers keep cake pieces soft in their ice cream? Thanks!...To name a few:
  • Eggs (especially egg yolk) have various properties for inhibiting crystal formation.
  • Instead of sucrose (table sugar) use invert sugar syrup, which is pretty easy to make, that can help slow down the ice crystals forming.
