Canned beans contain no liquid?

I recently opened two cans of pinto beans from the same brand (whole foods organic). One can looked perfectly normal with a fair amount of liquid and no visible beans until drained.
The second can however was quite dry. The beans looked hydrated and cooked, but there was almost no excess liquid in the can.
Any idea what caused this? Would these be safe? I threw them out, but curious for the future.
Thanks in advance

You were right to throw them out, no liquid was a sign that something went wrong in processing and therefore a safety concern. When it doubt, throw it out!

Can of beans with no liquid?
You were right to throw them out, no liquid was a sign that something went wrong in processing and therefore a safety concern. When it doubt, throw it out!Do canned beans have water?
One note: The liquid in all canned beans is a mixture of water, salt, and the starch released from the beans themselves. The salt acts as a preservative to keep the beans tasting fresh, which means the liquid is generally very, very salty. This isn't to say you can't use it.When using canned beans do you use the liquid?
Unless the recipe says to keep those beans in their liquid, you should drain your can of beans and give them a good rinse before using. Open your cans of beans using a can opener ($13, Target). Dump beans into a colander ($8, Bed Bath & Beyond) over your sink. Rinse with cool water until the liquid runs clear. How much liquid is in a can of beans?
Finally, to answer the part about the can: The most common can size for beans is about 15 ounces, which, once drained, contains approximately 1.5 cups or 9 ounces of beans (this holds across all bean types I tested).is the liquid content of canned beans edible, or is it better to drain them?
