I'm trying to marinate chicken with lime for a party. I know I can't use metal as a marinating dish otherwise it corrodes. Is wooden okay to use? I need an answer hopefully within the hour because of the upcoming party tomorrow morning. I have already used up my plastic bowls for fruits. Are wooden bowls okay to use or should I use multiple Tupperware dishes?

Best Answer

Your best bets are glass and stainless steel. There is no risk of corrosion with stainless steel, as opposed to aluminum or cast iron, which may react with acidic foods.

Zip-type bags are also excellent for marinating, and disposable.

You can use plastic like Tupperware, but there is some risk of staining.

I would not choose wood, as the marinade may permeate into the grain of the wood, leaving stains and a permanent aroma.

What does marinating chicken in lime juice do?

The Lime Marinade makes the chicken juicy on the inside and injects with flavour so you won't need a sauce with it. And after resting the chicken for a few minutes before serving it, some of those juices will sweat to the surface, like you see below.

The shining start in the easy marinade is the fresh lime juice and zest. Combined with olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, and a little bit of brown sugar, it's the perfect marinade for grilling chicken in the summertime or pan-frying it any time of year.

Can you put lime juice in a marinade?

We like a little bit of tenderizing with meat, but when your chicken thighs are exposed to lemon juice, lime juice, yogurt, or vinegars for too long, the texture of the meat turns from tender to mushy and stringy, two words that have never been used in tandem to describe something pleasant.
