I have a Panasonic SD253 breadmaker. The function chart shows 2hr 55min - 4hr 10min rising times available for the French Bake program. How do I make sure it rises for the full 4hr 10 mins?

Best Answer

Take a peek of the dough every 1/2 hour.

If you see in a certain peek it's lower than the last time you saw it, it has fully risen and is starting to fall.

The dough should be about to reach it's rising limit before it begins to be baked, but not pass it. You can change the dough's rising speed changing the amount of yeast from your recipe, or controlling the dough's temperature, among other ways.

How long does bread rise in bread machine?

Depending on the type of loaf you're making, the dough rises for anywhere from 5 to 40 minutes. Then, a second kneading takes place, as does an additional rise for most cycles. Lastly, the bread maker bakes the bread to a light, medium, or dark crust depending on the selected setting.

Can you allow bread to rise for too long?

If dough is left to rise for too long it will cause issues with the taste and appearance of the bread. Excess fermentation occurring in either the first or second rise can lead to a sour, unpleasant taste if the dough gets left for a long time. Over-proofed loaves have a gummy or dense texture.

How long can you leave bread to rise?

Bread dough can be left to rise overnight if it's stored in the refrigerator. Storing dough in the refrigerator can slow the rise for 8-48 hours or longer, depending on the dough. Some dough can be left out at room temperature overnight, but this often leads to overfermentation.

Can bread rise for 2 hours?

The short answer is that it depends. Factors like the temperature of your kitchen and the freshness of your yeast, along with humidity and water temperature, can all affect the proofing time of your bread dough. In a toasty kitchen, your dough may proof in as little as an hour (or less!).

Answer 2

Its down to the volume of yeast you use.

Yeast will continue to rise the bread as long as there is food and the temperature maintains within its required range (45c 115f)

so if you have 1 hour yeast and use 1/4 of the required amount for 1 hour bread, then it will take 4 hours to rise.
