Efficient method to peel raw potatoes

Efficient method to peel raw potatoes - Raw batata potatoes on black plate

I know already how I can peel cooked potatoes, e.g. by throwing into ice water. According to a german helpster entry, the shell will be easily removable just by "rubbing". But is there another "instant" method for peeling raw potatoes? Instant means, I don't want to just peel faster, as suggested in this question.

EDIT This German helpster entry I described above mentioned some efficient industry methods - which are unfortunately not very usable in a private sector. E.g. putting the potatoes in a natron solution/leach or putting them into a high steam/pressure environment.

EDIT2 Sorry for the confusion. I don't want them to boil/cook first; so i want just a raw peeled potato afterwards.

There are electrical devices using a tumbler:

(The German name is "Kartoffelschälmaschine" for anyone who wants to research it and doesn't like to read encoded URIs ;)

Interestingly, they are uncommon in the US judging by the amazon offers there- instead, the US knows a lot of electric versions of the "apple peeler/corer/slicer" design (which could probably peel a potato too if it was reasonably round, or a certain amount of waste is accepted).

How do you peel raw potatoes quickly?

Paring knife If you do not have a peeler or prefer to use a paring knife for peeling that is perfectly fine. It will get the job done. Holding the potato in one hand and the paring knife in the other you want to cut into the skin of the potato just enough to swipe the knife under the skin to peel it.

How can I peel potatoes without boiling them?

If you're able to, wash the potatoes with enough time for them to dry before you peel them. This will make sure they aren't as slippery when you're holding them. If you don't have time to let them dry, use a clean dish towel to dry them and/or to help you hold them.

Is it easier to peel potatoes wet or dry?

Stand the potato up on its newly flat surface steadying it with one hand, you can then glide you knife down skimming the edge from top to bottom being careful to take as little of the white flesh as possible. To complete the spud, rotate and repeat this process until you have a completely peeled potato.
