How to distinguish between silicone and nylon spatula and judge their quality
I bought a few silicon spatulas from Amazon{The ones I bought}.These are most probably from China, and since those are not from very well known brands, I can't just blindly trust what it says on the packaging. I don't want these to be the nylon ones.
How can I distinguish a nylon spatula from a silicon one.
How can I judge the quality/ safety of these spatulas ??
Best Answer
They look like nylon, but as you actually have them in your possession, the simplest test is to squeeze them. Silicone is soft & 'rubbery', nylon [or anything similar you can put in a pan] is hard & 'plasticky'.

In general, these types of spatulas are either made of silicone, nylon, or some other kind of plastic. Because of its ability to withstand higher temperatures, silicone is the best choice (more on that below). Winning Traits- Blade with wide, nearly flat top edge and straight side edges with a single corner curve.
- Blade is fairly thin.
- Blade offers good balance between flexibility and rigidity.
- Flat sides of blade are smooth, without ridges.
- Nimble enough to fit inside tight edges and corners.
- Wide, grippy handle.
How do I choose a good spatula?
Look for two things: stainless steel material for high heat resistance and a long handle (16-19 inches is perfect). Anything extra like Cuisinart's folding handle makes the longer tools good for storage. Some varieties include a serrated edge.silicone spatulas reaction on food.. live demo.. must watch.. review
