I've received the following seeds from one relatives, used in our for some recipes. I want to know what this seeds are.

They taste bitter like fenugreek seeds, and the person who bought it calls it Irani Seeds.

Any help would be appriciated.

They also look like fenugreek seeds, and Irani Methi is fenugreek. Fenugreek has a very typical perfume when crushed and/or cooked, that would also help in identifying them

How can we identify seeds?

In most cases, the useful clues for the identification of seed came from the following characters:
  • The size, shape and color of seeds.
  • The nature, arrangement and pattern of markings that is lines, ridges, pits, projection on the seed surface.
  • The shape and position of the attachment scar.

    When you put seeds in water,good quality seeds will settle down and bad quality seeds will float on water. Remove the floating seeds and you will be left with good quality seeds.
