Concerning meat of hard digesture

Concerning meat of hard digesture - Plus size woman standing on scale

Relating to the history of food and cooking, I have two questions pertaining to this quote by the (rather) late Philip Stubbs:

Questions:

  • What would constitute “meat of hard digesture” in 1583?
  • Would there be any way to prepare such meat to make it palatable to 21st century genteel, possibly even considering the employment of honie?

Why do I have a hard time digesting meat?

Meat products are one of the most difficult foods for the human body to digest because the protein contained in meat (especially red meat) is harder for us to break down, and this can cause bloating. Large amounts of fatty foods like meat make your stomach empty slower, which also causes bloating or discomfort.

What are the symptoms of not digesting food properly?

Symptoms of gastroparesis may include:
  • feeling full very quickly when eating.
  • feeling sick (nausea) and vomiting.
  • loss of appetite.
  • weight loss.
  • bloating.
  • tummy (abdominal) pain or discomfort.
  • heartburn.

What meats are hard to digest?

Meat, particularly red meat, is hard to digest so should be eaten sparingly. Processed and fast foods are often high in fat, making them difficult to digest.
